Here’s some more information from this year’s Intermot show.
Right on the heels of BMW announcing their new water-cooled R 1200 GS adventure bike, KTM officially unveiled their 1190 Adventure. While there’s some speculation about KTM’s exact plans for their lineup in the future after their model map was leaked last summer it seems this is the machine they’re selling for now.
As we told you earlier, the new machine will have a detuned RC8R motor in it, from KTM’s superbike. It will also have a slipper clutch, ride-by-wire throttle, electronic suspension adjustment, tubeless radial tires, multi-mode traction control, 9,300 mile service intervals, combined ABS from Brembo (with radial mounted four-piston calipers), a tubeless 12/70-19 tire up front and 170/60-17 in back.
The buzz about Ducati this year had them only releasing new colour options for their lineup. That’s not exactly true, as they’re showing off their Panigale 1199 RS13 motorcycle. The catch: It’s only going to be sold to motorcycle race teams; this bike isn’t for the street, it’s for the World Superbike series.
Of course, Ducati will also be unveiling the 1199 Panigale R; the wraps will come off that model at EICMA.
Suzuki hasn’t exactly set the world on fire with new releases the last couple of years, but this week’s Intermot news should cheer up their fans.
Suzuki has added ABS brakes with Brembo Monobloc calipers to the Hayabusa, one of the longest-running bikes in their lineup. But more interestingly, they also spilled the beans about a new V-Strom 1000 concept.
The new Strom has a totally re-designed liquid-cooled V-twin motor, inverted front forks, advanced traction control, and styling that’s supposedly inspired by the company’s 750 cc DR Big, that was originally released back in 1988.
Suzuki also announced a new model, the Intruder C1500T. It uses a familiar motor (pinched from the existing M1500 Intruder), but adds a set of integrated hard luggage. It’s unclear as to how this will work out in conjunction with last week’s news of the Boulevard M90’s revival, as we didn’t see any bags on that bike.
The new C1500T will be available in basic, beautiful black.
Aprilia announced the updated RSV4 at Intermot – the Caponard 1200 won’t be unveiled until EICMA. The new RSV4 will have three-mode switchable ABS (Track, Sport and Street modes) and some minor tweaks to the chassis and seat height (lowered). It now makes 181 hp instead of 180, and torque is up 1 ft/lb to 86 ft/lb.
Of course, we don’t really know anything about availability or pricing for any of these machines in Canada, yet.
