Triumph unveils new Street Triple, Street Triple R

If you have a new Street Triple, get your dealer to carry out the recall work.
Here’s what the new Street Triple looks like, in Caribbean Blue.

Triumph has unveiled new, lighter versions of the Street Triple and Street Triple R.

Here’s what the R version will look like.

The updated motorcycles didn’t just go on a diet (supposedly 403 lbs curb weight, up to 13 lbs lighter!); they also have a host of other new features. The bikes have an all-new chassis, and engineers went to work on improving mass centralization; they changed the bike’s geometry (reduced rake, increased trail) and also re-positioned the silencer towards that end.

Switchable ABS is also standard on the new machines. They retain the same 12-valve, three-cylinder 675 cc motor they featured last year.

They also feature an engine immobilizer as standard, to hopefully deter some bike thieves. The standard Street Triple will come in Phantom Black, Crystal White and Caribbean Blue; the higher-spec R model (fully adjustable forks and shock, etc.) will come in Phantom Black, Crystal White and Matte Graphite.

Triumph already has some accessories ready for these bikes, and Arrow has designed a slip-on can for them.

Triumph will announce pricing later this month, and the bikes should be in dealerships by January.
