It’s been rumoured for a while, but now it’s official: Ben Spies is riding a Ducati next year.
Spies, who’s had rotten luck aboard a factory Yamaha this season, will ride for the Pramac Racing satellite team in 2013; the team has also signed Italian rider Andrea Iannone (currently sitting third in Moto2’s standings, according to MotoGP.com). They’ll ride with official Ducati-supplied equipment, according to Ducati’s press release.
Of course, Andrea Dovizioso also signed with Ducati this summer, replacing Valentino Rossi as Nicky Hayden’s teammate. Next season could really be a great one for Ducati – as long as they work out the issues with the Desmosedici MotoGP project.
Well, that’s going to be a team of contrasts. Cool. calm, and collected Ben Spies paired with “Crazy Joe” Iannone. it’ll be great!
