BMW will unveil their new big-bore adventure machine at Intermot in Cologne in October.

BMW will be unveiling their new big-bore adventure bike at the Intermot show in Cologne, Germany.

The show takes place October 3-7; it’ll also give the public a chance to check out the new F700 GS series, and the HP4 version of the S1000 RR superbike.

Spy shots seem to indicate BMW’s new top-of-the-line dual sport will be water-cooled, and likely 1250 cc or 1300 cc.

If you’re perfectly happy with air-cooling, though, and you wish your current BMW looked a little more like the original R80G/S adventure bike, you’re in luck. Unit Garage has come out with a kit for the BMW R1200 GS that not only emulates the look of the BMW’s seminal adventure machine, it also cuts weight; the customized bike weighs 6.4 kg less.

Here’s what your R1200 GS will look like when you install the kit from Unit Garage. It’s the 1980s all over again!

They’re also adding luggage options for users who want to emulate the R80G/S’s look. The kit comes fully painted, and it comes with an instructional video showing you how to remove the original parts, and bolt the new bits on.

Unit Garage’s Kit R120G/S is designed to install in about four hours; it’s compatible with 1200 cc GS models from 2004 to 2012. We’re not sure how you’d ever get one here from Europe, but it costs 3,920 euros.
