The biggest rally this weekend is likely the Wharf Rat rally in Digby, N.S. Photo: heavybikers.blogspot.com

With summer winding down and parents and schoolchildren getting ready for classes, there aren’t many motorcycle events scheduled over the Labour Day weekend. Who woulda thunk?

The Wharf Rat Rally in Digby, NS, is likely this weekend’s biggest event. Like most rallies, this event fills up with cruisers, but everyone is welcome. The rally runs Wednesday – Sunday; there’s a rat bike contest scheduled, as well as the usual show ‘n shine, they’re raffling off a Fat Boy Lo Softtail, there’ll be tribute bands performing hits by the Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix and the Rolling Stones, there will be a burnout contest, and even boat races.

The Erin Doyle Poker Run takes place in Legal, Alberta this Saturday, starting at Kilroy’s Pub, on 50th Ave; $20 gets you a poker hand and a chance to belly up for the pig roast. That’s about all the information we have, so if you need more details, call 780-961-3117

If a pig roast sounds good, but you’re in Vancouver, not Alberta, you’re still in luck. The Northern Vancouver Island 28th Toy & Rod Run goes down at Port McNeill Community Hall, leaving at 11 a.m.; it’s followed by the seventh annual Pig Roast and Stomp. Call Dawn at 250-956-4818 for more details.

Also in B.C., the Rotary Rally – Ride for Jeneece takes place on Saturday in Gold River, B.C. at Pipers on the Ridge Pub. Money raised goes to the Queen Alexandra Foundation’s Jeneece Place. They have a website with more details here.
