Watch Greg Tracy race Pikes Peak

As expected, there were plenty of records broken this year at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb.

The 12.42-mile road up to the mountain’s 14,110 foot peak was completely paved this year, for the first time in the race’s history. The Race to the Clouds has been around since 1916, but before this year, nobody had ever broken the 10-minute mark on  a motorcycle – the terrain was just too treacherous.

It’s a little unnerving to be sliding around at top speed on gravel when there’s a sheer cliff drop off waiting for you, should you run off the road.

But two guys on Ducati Multistradas both broke that 10-minute mark this year on the fully paved course – Carlin Dunne took first place, for the second year in a row, and Greg Tracy took second. Here’s the video of Tracy’s run.

At the first, it doesn’t seem that intimidating, but that changes the further he gets up the mountain.
