The Seventy-Two’s metal-flake paint must have been popular; Harley-Davidson is offering it for other models as well, for 2013.

Harley-Davidson has released details of their 2013 lineup. It looks very similar to their 2012 lineup, except for paint.

Of course, 2013 is Harley-Davidson’s 110th anniversary, so the manufacturer’s lineup is full of commemorative models. According to their press release, “Ten Harley-Davidson models are offered as 110th Anniversary Editions, each serialized and featuring exclusive paint and commemorative solid bronze fuel tank badges. Production will vary by model and will be strictly limited to ensure exclusivity.” Supposedly, there are more details to come on those bikes.

Aside from that, the rest of the lineup is basically the same; the motorcycles mostly just get paint changes. Apparently the metal-flake paint on the Seventy-Two from last year’s lineup was a hit; it’s going to be available on more machines as something Harley calls Hard Candy Custom. You can order this finish as OEM paint for a custom look. It’ll be offered on the Seventy-Two, the Street Bob, the Blackline, the Softail Deluxe, and the Forty-Eight.

The Street Bob is about the only bike that sees any tweaks; beside the paint change, it also gets a chopped rear fender with a side-mounted licence plate and brake and turn indicators.

For high-dollar rollers, there’s a new vehicle in Harley-Davidson’s CVO lineup, the Breakout. Harley-Davidson says it’s a  “bold Softail model that takes production motorcycle finishes to a new level with two paint schemes that feature hand-polished steel sections on the fuel tank and fenders.” The CVO Road King, CVO Ultra Classic Electra Glide, and CVO Road Glide Custom are all back for 2013.

  1. You gotta love H-D. It’s probably the only company in the world that doesn’t make planned obselecsence part of it’s business model.
Although I think it’s time they update the bar and shield logo. It’s a little tired… 😉

    • You’re right – they’re obsolete when they roll out of the factory. Who are the buffoons who buy into this contrived anniversary crap?
