BMW announces some 2013 details

A touring package for BMW's naked bike? That's an idea so crazy that it just might work ... and it's more exciting than new paint.

BMW has announced some changes to their 2013 lineup, but for now, it’s mostly just paint schemes and optional packages that are changing.

BMW says they’re changing the paint schemes offered on the F800R, G650GS, R1200R, S1000RR, K1300S, K1300R, K1600GT and K1600GTL. As well, the packages on some of those bikes are being slightly tweaked; the F800R now has a “Dynamic” package available, including an engine spoiler, pillion seat cover, LED turn lights and LED taillight.

There’s also a touring package available for the F800R, including heated grips, on-board computer, electrical socket, a luggage rack and centre stand.

The K1300R model now comes standard with sports wheels, which were formerly only an option on the Dyneema package; that package’s price has been adjusted accordingly.

The K1600GT also has optional LED lamps, formerly only an option on the GTL model.

We’re not sure yet which of these options will be available in Canada.

BMW Motorrad is reporting they’ve sold 59,189 motorcycles so far this year, down 2.3 per cent from last year’s six-month mark. Subsidiary Husqvarna says they’ve seen a huge increase in motorccycles they’ve supplied, though; they’ve supplied 5,235 motorcycles to dealers so far, up 48.3 per cent from last year’s six-month mark of 3.530 units.
