June 21-24 was World Ducati Week at the at the Misano World Circuit. Ducati lovers from all over the world showed up to party, and why not? Their favourite brand is seeing record sales.
Ducati president Gabriele Del Torchio announced Friday that Ducati revenue is up 20 per cent YTD so far over their 2011 numbers. That’s impressive growth at any time, but especially in today’s financial climate.
Of course, Ducati fans didn’t all get together to talk about financial numbers; there was plenty to take in at the event, including a long-awaited racetrack showdown between Ducati aces Troy Bayliss and Valentino Rossi.
The race wasn’t on a road course, though; instead, organizers stuck them on Diavel musclebikes and put them in a drag race; Bayliss has been away from motorcycle racing for a while now, but he still managed to beat Rossi.
