The Ride for Dad fundraiser for prostate cancer research and awareness kicks off this weekend, with rides in Huronia (Orillia/Barry), Kingston-Quinte, Winnipeg and Montreal on Saturday and London, Niagara and Windsor on Sunday.

The Motorcycle Ride for Dad has been running since 2000, when two volunteers got 80 riders together in Ottawa and raised almost $20,000 for prostate cancer research.

Now, thousands of volunteers help the event raise money in 30 cities across Canada every spring; so far, they’ve raised over $9 million dollars for their cause, and also helped establish one of Canada’s largest annual motorcycle events.
