Larry “Spiderman” McBride set a new electric motorcycle record last weekend, running the quarter-mile in 6.94 and hitting 201 mph.
McBride set the record on Friday, and some are saying it’s a flat-out record for electric vehicles of any kind, although we’d have to do a little more research before we accepted that claim.
It’s a bit hard to believe, but apparently McBride’s bike was put together by Orange County Choppers, proving that even ridiculous TV-based builders are sometimes capable of something useful.
The bike was powered by a 355-volt lithium battery with a 14.2 kWh capacity, built by Derek Barger of High Tech Systems, that supposedly could put out 1340 hp when combined with the motorcycle’s  13-inch GE motor (that was originally built for a drag truck, then upgraded) and customized 4000-amp Zilla speed controller.
