Effenbert Liberty says nobody else will ride McCormick's bike at Monza

Brett McCormick’s job is waiting for him, for now.

The Canadian superbike champ was injured last week at the WSBK round in Assen; a broken back and other injuries mean he’ll be off the track for two to three months. Currently, he’s returned home to Canada to recover from his injuries.

His absence meant Effenbert Liberty would have an opening for a rider on their World Superbike team, and some people have apparently already asked team management about the possibility of riding for them at the Monza round. Apparently, management weren’t too impressed by that.

““We are still shocked, and very sad, for what happened to Brett McCormick at Assen,” said team owner Mario Bertuccio. “For this reason, in his respect, during the fourth round of the superbike championship that will be held at Monza next week, we have decided that nobody else will ride the fourth bike, and we haven’t accepted the offers recently received.”

So, that’s one thing McCormick won’t have to worry about – hopefully he can concentrate on recovery, although the haters posting on CBC’s story about McCormick seem like they’d be more than happy to cut off his healthcare benefits.
