If you want to buy a Motus MST or MST-R, there’s good news and bad news.
First, the good news: The American company says they’ll be starting production of their Chevy-based “baby block” V4-powered sport tourer this fall. The standard-trim MST will put out 165hp, and the MST-R deluxe model will produce 185 hp, both through a six-speed transmission.
After putting test runs through 29 U.S. states last year, the bikes are supposed to be built for the long haul; standard equipment includes a 720w alternator, removable Givi side cases, a 20,000 km XW-ring chain and lifetime warranty rear sprocket, Ohlins adjustable front suspension and Progressive rear shock, with remote adjustable preloading (the MST-R has an Ohlins rear shock), and a Sargent seat, . Options for both bikes include a 30l Givi top case, heated grips and seat, adjustable windscreen, a low seat from Sargent, and rear storage rack.
But, now for the bad news; after all those thousands of miles of showing the bikes off to dealers, the distribution will be pretty limited, at first. There are only seven premium dealerships signed up to sell Motus when the first bikes are available for sale. They’re all in the U.S., and none of them are west of the Rockies. And while the bikes’ V4 engine should be a great motor capable of all sorts of hotrodding, we’ve already told you that Motus has dropped their gasoline direct injection plans in favour of EFI.
The price tag is pretty steep as well; the MST’s pricing starts at $30,975, and the MST-R will start at $36,975. It’s true that “luxury” motorcycle brands have seen great sales numbers lately, but a $30,000+ price tag is going to make the bikes only accessible to the rich and the famous.

Well, seeing as how I’m a sporting rider, I’ll be needing the MST-R, after all 165HPÂ won’t give me the same buzz as 185HP!
