Brett McCormick will race in the 2012 World Superbike series.

McCormick, winner of the 2011 Canadian Superbike championship, signed with Effenbert Liberty last fall; originally the plan was that he’d race a Ducati in the World Superstock series.

That plan has changed, though, since Effenbert Liberty has found some freed-up funds. Instead of three riders in the WSBK circuit, they’re now going to race four, and McCormick is the lucky fourth guy. He’ll ride Ducati’s 1198, wearing #68.

McCormick is obviously very happy with the move, and says he’s busy studying and memorizing the WSBK tracks, as he’s never had the chance to race them before.

“It is going to be a very challenging season for me since I’m about to face many experienced riders. This is undoubtedly a great way to learn and grow, and I will always try to be in the leading group,” he says.

McCormick’s first race in the WSBK series will be later this month, at the Imola track in Italy.
