A controversial custom from Orange County Choppers has been sold, for well under its expected value.
The bike was an asset of the troubled ORNGE air ambulance service, donated by Italian helicopter company AgustaWestland; they also supplied ORNGE with helicopters. Now, ORNGE is being worked over by forensic auditors, and politicos were calling the machine a symptom of the outfit’s alleged corruption. We told you all about it back in January.
Well, whether or not the allegations are true, the bike is gone, sold at an auction hosted by the Government of Canada. And, it went for a lot less dough than originally hoped; the bike was valued at $50,000, but only managed to make $30,001.01. That’s with only 22 kms on the odometer.
ORNGE originally received the machine back in 2009, and listed it as a marketing asset.
There’s a second ORNGE bike floating around somewhere, valued at $100,000, although the Toronto Star says ORNGE officials are claiming the machine (a sidecar rig) is still owned by AgustaWestland.
