Carlos Checa continues to dominate at Phillip Island with his Ducati 1198.
Checa, last year’s World Superbike series champ, was at the top of the timesheets last week during an unofficial private test, with a lap time of 1:38.8. Yesterday, he once again led the pack with a lap time of 1:31.947, during the first day of official testing.
Max Biaggi was his closest competition yesterday, with a top time of 1’32.132 on his Aprilia RSV4. Marco Melandri was third, with a time of 1’32.232 aboard his BMW S1000RR.
Today is the final day of official testing at Phillip Island; the World Superbike season kicks off this Sunday with a race at the Australian facility.
