More details on Yamaha concepts

The Ryoku looks like the love child of an XT250 and a TW200 - but that isn't neccessarily a bad thing.
Yamaha's Moegi could prove popular with commuters, if it ever sees production.

Yamaha gave us a sneak peek at these machines earlier last month, but here are a few more details on their concepts at the Tokyo show.

First, take a look at the Y125 Moegi. This 1950s throwback combines bicycle styling with a four-stroke 125cc SOHC motor, with four-speed gearbox. But don’t let those skinny tires and that streamlined, lightweight frame fool you – this machine is still high-tech enough to get 220 mpg.

The Moegi is rounded out with an LED headlight and belt drive, which Yamaha says should make maintenance easier. The vehicle weighs 176 pounds wet.

Next, here’s another look at Yamaha’s XTW250 Ryoku. As the name implies, this bike looks like a cross between Yamaha’s XT250 and TW200. It’s powered by a fuel-injected four-stroke 250cc SOHC motor with a five-speed transmission.

Along with the obvious features, like those huge balloon tires, the machine has some pretty cool tricks up its sleeve; for instance, the engine guard doubles as a spade, it has a sidestand on both sides, the windscreen folds down, the LED fog lamps are removable if you want to ride in the tight stuff, and the machine even has two AC 100V battery sockets.

With features like these, this bike could be pretty attractive to budget-minded adventure tourers, if it ever makes it into production.
