New MotoGP track could be built

There could be another stop on the MotoGP tour in a few years, in a bit of an unlikely location.

According to the BBC, developers and politicians are looking into the possibility of building a car-and-motorcycle track in the town of Ebbw Vale, in Wales.

Now, that’s not exactly the hot, exotic locale that many associate with motorcycling’s premium series, but locals think the track could bring hundreds, or even thousands of jobs to an area plagued by unemployment. Of course, it would have to attract racers first, but like Kevin Costner, they seem to think that if the track is built, they will come.

No planning application has been submitted yet for the track, and the people behind it are still getting their funding together. They’re expected to ask for a government handout, which could be the dealbreaker, in today’s recessed economy.
