A new race track facility is being planned for the Syracuse, NY area, about 4.5 hours from both Toronto and Montreal, roughly 2.5 hours south of the border crossing near Kingston.
The facility is planned to have three tracks: a half-mile dirt track, a drag strip, and a two-mile (3.2 km) road course. The track’s web site says that ground-breaking is scheduled for the spring of 2012.
Central New York Raceway Park (CNYRP) is to be set on 140 acres, and incorporate a 56-bay garage – “It was our goal to make sure all the competitors would have the amenities and comfort of a NASCAR style garage,” said Glenn Donnelly of Donnelly Partners LLC of Weedsport, NY, who’s the guy in charge.
Donnelly has hired John Lehmann, a former Assistant General Manger of Vernon Downs Casino and Hotel and Senior Operations Manager at Turning Stone Casino Resort, to design the layout and set-up, including a 10,000-seat grandstand.
Track design of the road course has been handed to Peter Argetsinger, a professional driver and racing instructor who has coached the likes of former F1 World Champion Damon Hill and NASCAR stand-out Juan Pablo Montoya. He’s the son of Cameron Argetsinger, who created the Watkins Glen race track, and has been head instructor at a number of world-class driving schools for more than two decades.
You never know, but it sounds good so far.

I agree with Buzzard. Also, the drag stip is integrated with the road course. If anyone on here is as old as I am and had ever raced at Sanair in Quebec you know how tricky it is to road race a bike on a track that incorporates a drag strip. Lets hope they go full retro and have armco barriers lining the drag strip so you have something solid to hit when you lose traction coming on to the straight!
Well that’s not the dullest track layout I’ve ever seen…… okay I guess it is.
