Perhaps creating a new scooter category, Piaggio introduces the X10 luxury maxi-scooter.
The X10 is touted to be designed for long-haul comfort while providing nimble handling for hopping around town.
Swoopy styling characterizes the new X10, and beneath the flowing bodywork will be three possible four-stroke powerplants.
A 125cc single will be available to satisfy European B-class licence holders, while a more powerful, 33 hp, 350cc single with two selectable power modes will be available for those wanting a bit more power while still keeping an eye on fuel consumption.
A 40 hp, 500cc single will be the top-of-the-line engine choice. All engines are liquid cooled and fuel injected.
Rear suspension will include electrically controlled, and traction control will be optional. It will also feature unique back lit hand controls and a handbrake that is activated when the side stand is deployed.
Behind the leg shield are three storage compartments, the central one claiming to be the largest in class and containing a power socket, and in one of the smaller compartments is a USB port for smart phone or iPod connectivity.
Under the seat is a storage compartment large enough to hold two open-face helmets.
We don’t yet know if it will be coming to Canada.
