Eugene Laverty is Max Biaggi’s new teammate on the Aprilia factory World Superbike team.
Everyone knew Laverty signed with Aprilia back in October, but it was unclear if he’d race with the official factory team, or with their PATA racing squad. Plus, there was the whole matter of Leon Camier, who held the factory team spot.
We don’t know where Camier is going now, but we do know that he’s out of the big team, and Laverty’s in, as Biaggi’s teammate. This could make for an interesting 2012 racing season – Biaggi’s got to want to reclaim the Superbike crown, after injuries torpedoed his chances this season, and he has a reputation of not getting along with his competition; if he perceives that competition is coming from inside his own team, things could heat up.
