New Triumph Tiger Explorer 1200 – details

The 1200 Adventure class just got another member.

Triumph have just released some of the details (and a couple of pics) of their new 2012 Tiger Explorer 1200.

Sadly the new Explorer will probably not explore much more than gravel roads.

The Explorer takes the styling from the the 800 Tiger but sports a brand new 1200 + cc motor (which we should also see in their new sports tourer) complete with shaft drive/single sided swingarm. The motor also debut’s Triumph ride-by-wire throttle system which enables non-human controls such as cruise, traction and switchable ABS.

The chassis is steel tubular (and looks like it was taken straight from the 800) and the wheels are cast (which implies only very moderate off roading such as gravel roads) with pretty much standard sizing for the class of 19″ front and 17″ rear.

Of course, there’s going to be a large amount of accessories (including luggage, seat options and electrical gear) though we won’t know until EICMA anything else about it (pending any leaks of course).
