Aprilia releases SRV850 pics

Here's a shot of Aprilia's SRV850; that twin-cylinder engine should haul you down the road a little faster than your old 50cc scooter did.
That twin-cylinder engine should haul you a little faster than your old 50cc scooter did.

For those of you who’ve been waiting to catch a glimpse of Aprilia’s new maxi-scooter, the wait is over.

Aprilia just released photographs of their new SRV850 scooter. As the name suggests, the two-wheeler has an 850cc engine – quite impressive for a scooter. In fact, it puts out more power than many motorcycles.

That’s a big switch from the old image of scooters as agonizingly slow grocery-getters.

As scooters get bigger and bigger engines and lose their step-through look, the lines between motorcycles and scoots are getting blurry.

According to Faster and Faster, the twin-cylinder motor should put out about 76 hp, and 76Nm of torque, and Aprilia says the frame and suspension have been designed to give the best possible handling dynamics. It appears that styling was taken from the company’s RSV4 motorcycle.

  1. You mean ‘the styling was taken from the RSV4 motorcycle’ I presume?

Not often I’ve seen a scooter with a chain drive!
