The saying goes that if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. But, BMW is tinkering with their S1000 RR anyway.
The Brett McCormick-piloted S1000 RR dominated last summer’s Canadian Superbike Championship handily, and is proving to be a favourite for racers everywhere. BMW still thought they could improve the machine, though, and came out with some changes for the 2012 model.
The changes include tweaks to the bike’s power delivery curve, as well as adding a third power mode. BMW redesigned the bike’s throttle, retuned the traction control and ABS, redesigned the air intake for more airflow, changed suspension settings and geometry for improved handling, and even re-engineered the bike’s front fork bridge.
The bike’s LCD instrument display has been re-designed, and has new functions available. Bodywork has also been slightly revamped, and new paint options are available.
