Ride for Dad events start this weekend

Vancouver Island's Ride for Dad takes place this Sunday.

The 2011 Ride for Dad campaign is underway, with some events running as early as this weekend.

Running since 2000, the Ride is part fundraiser, part awareness campaign in the fight against prostate cancer. It started in Ottawa with about 80 motorcyclists who raised $20,000 for the Ottawa Regional Cancer Center; now, every spring, there are rides all across Canada helping in the battle against this deadly disease.

You can check the Ride’s schedule here;  the Vancouver Island run goes Sunday, so if you live there, you should check it out. There are rides in every other province and even in the Yukon Territory, so if you want to get involved further, use their website to find out how – there’s plenty of opportunity.
