The MV Agusta F4 RR: the new open supersport king?

MV Augusta released the new F4 RR supersport, and the bike claims a class-leading 201 horsepower. Yes, that’s 201 horsepower.

The claim for highest output was previously held by BMW’s S1000RR at 193 hp, but this new Italian superbike now holds the title. It achieves its high output with a new short-stroke engine that uses a new cylinder head with larger-diameter titanium valves, forged pistons, variable-length intake runners and a new exhaust that uses large-diameter tapered headers.

The F4 RR transfers its power to the rear wheel through a close-ratio, six-speed gearbox.

Other parts that make this mouthwatering exotic worthy of a World Superbike grid is an Ohlins fully adjustable, 43 mm inverted fork, Ohlins TTX 36 shock and a steering damper also made by the Swedish suspension maker. Four-piston monoblock front calipers are from Brembo, and wheels are lightweight forged aluminum.

Claimed dry weight is 192 kg (423 lb), and the claimed top speed of the unrestricted model is… 297.6 km/h. And if 201 hp is too feeble for you, a race exhaust system and ECU are available.

Canadian availability has not been announced, but the price in Europe has been set at 22,900 euro, or about $31,400 CDN.

  1. Getting the last dollar out of the buying public is mission one of Joe Corporation Inc. com on man, don’t you really need a 200 horsepower bike? Hard to get to 55 mph in this country, you need these fine horses indeed. Will that be credit application, cash, or credit card, Sir? Thanks for your business.

  2. well, as usual, I’m going in the wrong direction. I’m lusting after a 125 or 250cc bike that handles well (Honda?). I just don’t need a huge amount of horsepower to have a good time out riding.
