BMW, Ducati 1st quarter

Ducati experiencing a healthy first quarter.

First-quarter motorcycle sales statistics are starting to come in, and the numbers look good for Ducati North America.

A company press release, which includes U.S. purchases, claims a 68 per cent growth in sales this quarter — their third straight quarter with growth.

Sales have reportedly been strong across all models in the lineup, and Ducati says they figure numbers will be boosted further with the upcoming release of the Monster 1100EVO and Multistrada 1200 Pikes Peak Special Edition; they also attribute some of their growth to Diavel’s arrival in showrooms in late March.

The first-quarter numbers aren’t quite what BMW Motorrad Canada has become accustomed to, though. In an era where the brand constantly has seen exponential growth even in a recession, the Canadian first quarter sales numbers are down 27.5 per cent, to 235 machines.

Of course, this doesn’t include U.S. sales numbers. BMW says they do expect a combination of spring’s arrival and the upcoming availability of the K1600 touring motorcycle to boost their sales here in the Great White North.

  1. :eek Gawd, that’s an ugly motorcycle. Ducati, what ARE you thinking? Please go back to making rolling works of art and leave the stubby-ass fat-tired vacuum cleaner market to others. 😡
