No to Ducati scooter

No plans to build a super scooter from Ducati.

In an interview with the Italian motorcycle website motoblog.it, Ducati CEO Gabriele Del Torchio dispelled rumours that Ducati is working on a mega scooter.

When asked about the scooter, and a possible scrambler-style motorcycle, Del Torchio indicated that Ducati’s current lineup is well rounded and there were no current plans to build a maxi scooter, and especially a scrambler.

This news conflicts with Ducati’s product manager, Claudio Demenicali, who stated in an interview with Moto Sprint magazine that the firm was indeed seriously considering both designs.

Del Torchio did mention Ducati was working on the next supersport model, though, but have no plans to enter new market segments.

Of course, company chiefs are masters at keeping secrets so we wouldn’t count out the possibility that either of these projects see fruition in the future.
