New Mission R looks good

Mission R looks like a real superbike.

Electric motorcycle maker Mission One has shown a new race bike it’s preparing for the 2011 TTXGP series.

The Mission R looks like a modern superbike and uses a custom-made frame, Ohlins suspension, Brembo brakes, Marchesini wheels, and other high performance bits.

Power from the liquid-cooled, three-phase induction motor is claimed to be 141 hp and 115 lb-ft of torque. Carbon fibre battery packs will be swapped between race events, and with 3G and WiFi connections between pits and race bike, settings can be changed on the fly by techies seated at laptop computers.

  1. I don’t see that anytime soon…racing is just the advertising platform to sell bikes (and the sponsors stuff)…race on Sunday, sell on Monday…if you’re not advertising a bike you can ride, it’s not cost effective…might be neat to see, but I don’t see it ending conventional racing…

  2. “settings can be changed on the fly by techies seated at laptop computers.”

Any guesses on how long before the first ‘real life’ video game (if that even makes sense) where everything is controlled from the pits and there is no rider at all?

  3. Now that is how to sell new technology…prove it at the track (and looking pretty sexy doing it)…if the weight is near a liter bike, it should be able to do quite well…all that torque available from zero rpm to top speed…set your gearing to keep up and you have a winner…this could be interesting…

    Later.
