Harley’s Sporty now under $9,000.
In response to a weakening U.S. dollar, Deeley Harley-Davidson has announced it will reduce prices of new 2010 and 2011 models by approximately five percent.
A Sportster Superlow now retails for $8,839, down from $9,309, and on the upper end of the scale, Screamin’ Eagle Ultra Classic Electra Glide (yes, that’s a mouthful) drops by $2,130 to $40,369.

Harley website prices still do not reflect this recent 5% reduction (only the 2% drop when the 2011’s were introduced).
Why is that?
Harley sold commercial paper – a form of short-term loan – to the Fed 33 times over five months between late 2008 and early 2009 for a total of more than $2.3 billion. The money was used primarily by Harley’s lending unit, which provides retail loans for motorcycle buyers and wholesale loans to Harley dealers

I have to agree.HD is the only manufacturer that I am aware that has ever passed on savings to the canadian consumer.Honda,who were producing Gold Wings in the USA certainly didn’t lower prices or give consumers a break.Compare prices and you will find HD’s are a bargain.I have owned and ridden most brands but I’m on my 2nd HD touring bike and love it.Ride what you like but don’t bad mouth someone else for their choice of rides.

This is not the first time that Deeley HD has dropped the price in response to the stronger dollar. It happened in 04, Again in 08 and now for the 11 models. The good news is the dealers are repricing the inventory and passing on the savings. There is still a subtantial difference between American and Canadian prices .
I have not seen any of the other brands pass on the diffences to the customers. I have ordered a 2011 Road Glide Ultra and was told on Saturday by my dealer that the difference is $1370.00 to my advantage. I am a pretty happy guy . I got a similar adjustment on my 08 about $1,000.00 dollars. It paid for the ABS ,
I hope the other brands treat thier customers to this unexpected difference. Lets not discourage Deeley from doing what is right. I am not thier cheerleader just a pleased customer.

Omigod, Harley is dropping their prices! It’s one of the seven signs of the Apocalypse! They’re in dire straits and will be closing their doors forever soon! This is proof that their wicked ways have finally caught up with them!
