If you like your supermotos supersized, KTM has your fix.
The Austrian bike maker’s Canadian distributor will bring in the 990 SMR for 2011.
This isn’t a kid’s bike, with its liquid-cooled 990 cc 75-degree V-twin pumping out 116 hp and 71-lb-ft of torque.
The upright seating position, wide handlebar, supersport-sized radial rubber and claimed 191 kg (422 lb) weight (without fuel) assure that this bike will do damage to your driver’s license. Seat height is a lofty 875 mm (34.5 in) and tank capacity is 19 litres.
WP suspension at both ends is fully adjustable and high-spec, Brembo radial-mount calipers should provide enough stopping power for effortless brakies.
MSRP should be announced shortly.
SV1000 mill in DRZ400 frame with DR650 tank???? No, that would not definitely replace this bike.
BTW, I am glad you don’t work for Suzuki design team … :grin
Now tell me that wouldn’t be stupid amounts of fun!! Take the motor from a Suzuki SV1000 and put it into a DRZ-400SM with the fuel tank from the DR650…yup…stupid fun!! Does it replace the Super Duke?
