2011 Kawasaki Z1000SX; comfy sportiness.

Italian website omnimoto.it has published images and information of a new Kawasaki model, the Z1000SX.

The Z1000SX offers everyday ergonomics in sporty, fully faired bodywork, and is based on the current Z1000. Its 1,043 cc inline four, introduced last year in the Z1000, claims 136 hp.

Running gear includes a fully adjustable 41 mm inverted fork and a horizontally mounted single rear shock adjustable for rebound damping and preload. Four-piston radial calipers squeeze 300 mm front discs.

The riding position is nearly identical to the Z1000, the only notable difference being a 10 mm narrower handlebar. The fairing features a three-position windscreen, adjustable manually over a 50-mm range.

No news yet if it will come to Canada but we will keep you posted.

  1. Since the new VFR is waaaaay out of my price range and my trusty old ’98 VFR is starting to have problems, this may be my next sport touring ride! Add hard bags and a centre stand and I’m in!

  2. Add a couple of hard bags and you’d have an excellent sport-tourer with which to replace a Bandit 1200. If I didn’t already have a similar bike with similar power, I’d be considering it.

  3. I used to own a Z bike and my father always LOVED it in all regards except the lack of wind protection. I expect to see one in his garage within the next few years. Assuming of course it makes its way to Canada.

  4. I’m in! This bike fills a void in between “smallish” 650 bikes and the big C14/new VFR/ etc. I’m hoping it comes to Canada big time. No, it doesn’t look like its from a decade 20-50 years ago. There are plenty of bikes like that already.
