Mouzouris will try to emulate this rider while in South Africa.

The second edition of the BMW GS Trophy will be held in South Africa on November 13-21, and our very own international correspondent, Costa Mouzouris, will be there to cover the story.

The GS Trophy is a rally-type event pitting winners of the various GS Challenge events held around the world against each other.

The GS Trophy takes part every two years and differs from a rally in that it is not about speed but more about riding skill, endurance and team spirit. All competitors will ride F800GS motorcycles.

Team Canada members include 2009 GS Challenge winner Dominique Lemaire and this year’s west coast winner Pat Horan. Marc-André Octeau won this year’s eastern Challenge event but cannot attend the GS Trophy, so runner-up finisher Brian Kiely will attend.

Mouzouris discovered he must accompany the three qualifiers as a teammate and ride the course, but after viewing a video of the previous event in Tunisia on the GS Trophy website, has curled up into a fetal position and is unresponsive.
