Moto-art at Halifax boutique

Motocrossers take the air in Anna Stowe’s exhibit, Miles of Bliss.

You wouldn’t normally expect to find art representing vintage motorcycle
competitions in a fancy boutique, but Love, Me isn’t your normal
boutique.

The store on Birmingham Street in Halifax carries Canadian handmade, small-run, independent products for wearing, living and giving, according to their website.

More importantly, right now and until the end of October, they’re featuring a display of art by Anna Stowe, a multidisciplinary artist and designer who seems to have taken a fancy to vintage motocross and other forms of the manly art.

Her show, Miles of Bliss, celebrates "the jumps, bumps, mud, rocks and dust of early motorcycle trials and scrambles," and is a mixture of mixed media paintings and inked line drawings.

If you love motorcycles and art, or even just shopping in fancy all-Canadian boutiques, get yer ass down there right now. If your ass can’t get there, check out stodesigns.com for some inspiration.

  1. Hi Anna,

Probably good to take this away from the comments section now. Please email me at editor at cmg online dot com.

    Cheers, Rob

  2. Wonderful!
I plan to print more of the shirts and have them available online in the next few weeks. I will be sure to let you know when this happens. Any recommendations for shops or galleries that might host this sort of work in Sackville? I would love to show there.

Thanks for spreading the word Cathy!

  3. Hi Anna,

Thank Cathy Merriman who came up to visit me at the CMG world Headquarters in Sackville last weekend and told me all about your exhibition. Her man Bill had the fish and scrambler t-shirt too (BTW, do you sell those online?).

We’ll have to try and get your exhibit up to Sackville sometime (lots of artist types here).

    Keep up the good work.

    Cheers, Rob

  4. Hey there. Thanks for the post about my show!
My interest in vintage motorcycles and motorcycling in general stems from my partner Kevin, who restores old bikes. We have a house full of them. Including my own beautiful 1972 Honda CD175 and a BSA restoration project of a 1971 BSA B25SS (Street Scrambler) that I have yet to devote some time to. A lot of inspiration came from watching old clips and videos of trials and scrambles, particularly On Any Sunday. Drop me a line and let me know what you think. Cheers! – Anna
