Briton
Cal Crutchlow took his Sterilgarda Yamaha to a double victory at
Silverstone, marking the 2009 World Supersport champ’s first WSB
wins. Amazingly, they were also the first wins for Yamaha in 2010
after Ben Spies’ dominating performance last year.

been trying so hard all year to achieve a win, I’m ecstatic that it
has happened at my home race," said Crutchlow.
Hannspree
Ten Kate Honda’s Jonathon Rea was second in both races after leading
the most laps in both. In both races Crutchlow shadowed the Irishman
then made a decisive pass and moved away to a slight lead; Rea
briefly fought back in the first race but was unable to retaliate in
the second. "Cal
quite simply had a little more pace than me in the race, a couple of
tenths a lap on average," said the Ulsterman.
Crutchlow’s
perfect weekend was capped by his also taking Superpole and setting
the fastest lap of the race for a new lap record.
The
podium was all Brits in both races in their home event at the
recently refurbished Silverstone track. In race one Leon Haslam,
second in the championship, got third on his Alstare Suzuki, while
Leon Camier, 2009 British Superbike champion, took the spot on his
Alitalia Aprilia in the second go-around.
Camier
continues to impress; he was comfortably faster than team-mate and
series leader Max Biaggi all weekend. He was sixth behind Biaggi in
the first race but obviously was just holding station; in the second
he passed Biaggi and then got past Leon Haslam to take a few points
away from him. Coming from a bad qualifying performance that left him
16th
on the grid made his rides even more impressive.
Biaggi
had an unusual off weekend, saying that he just couldn’t find a
comfortable setting for his RSV4 on the bumpy circuit. He still has a
huge lead in the championship with only six races at three events
left in the season.
