Don't get squared-off

Round is good, says Tire Industry Council.

In the United Kingdom, National
Motorcycle Week is underway, and riders are being warned against
becoming too square.

Britain’s Tire Industry Council is cautioning riders who spend much of their
time at high speeds on straight highways that squaring of their
tires’ profiles could cause handling difficulties when they leave the
highway and encounter curving roads.

When the tires "square off," the
rider can sense a loss of grip as the bike is suddenly leaned over in
a curve.

TyreSafe advises that riding on twisty
roads will extend tire life — as will ensuring that there’s proper
inflation pressure in the tires. So don’t be square — that’s what they’re saying in the U.K.
