Canada’s round of the silent-motor TTXGP takes place at Mosport International Raceway this weekend.

The North American TTXGP electric-motorcycle road race series is one of three international TTXGP championship series, with the other two in Italy and the United Kingdom.

Canada’s race is round three and follows races at Infineon Raceway in California and Elkhart Lake in Wisconsin. The North American final of the four-race series takes place in midAugust at Virginia International Raceway.

The Mosport race grids at noon on Sunday and is a 10-lap event. It’s followed by round five of the Parts Canada Superbike race — the Superbike round four will take place on Saturday.

Leading the charge in the North American series are Agni and Lightning teams, with experienced road racer Michael Barnes, the Lightning rider, in front of the rider’s championship.

While some of the bikes are purpose-built, the Team Electra bike, No. 37, is built around a 1966 Norton Atlas. Not surprisingly, it ran a DNF in round one, though it finished third at Road America.

  1. This is how to legally get away with lane splitting. Electric assist bicycles do not require a license, so you can ride between cars and on bike paths. Just don’t try hanging on to a Saab.
