Jordan Szoke was the most important Canadian motorcycle racer of 2009, according to readers of Inside Track, who’ve named him their racer of the year for the second year in a row.

Szoke won the Parts Canada Superbike Championship and the Yoshimura Pro Sport Bike Championship for Kawasaki last year, and he’s no stranger to the No. 1 plate, having worn it on his superbike three times previously. However, he currently does not have a contract to ride for the 2010 season. Kawasaki has farmed out its road-racing effort and only one rider, up-and-comer Alex Welsh, will ride the green bike in the Canadian Superbike series.

Szoke was presented with the award at the Canadian Motorsports Expo in Toronto on the weekend.
He has six Canadian national road racing championships, equalling Steve Crevier’s record.
