Aprilia has announced an unusual recall, with complete motor
swaps involved, according to roadracing world.
The Italian factory said it will recall every RSV4
motorcycle delivered to the American market, ever. Apparently, testing has
shown some defective parts in a small number of bikes that could lead to engine
failures down the road. Rather than wait for warranty claims to come in,
Aprilia is replacing the motors.
Aprilia will pay for shipping the bikes from their homes
across the U.S.A. to dealerships with Aprilia-trained mechanics, and meanwhile
Aprilia’s people are phoning all the owners.
New motors are on their way to America now, and Aprilia
expects to have them installed in all RSV4 motorcycles and bikes back to their
owners before spring.
