Ducati recycles the pedal

Ducati contributed the red

Ducati has shown an electric bicycle hybrid in Copenhagen, developed with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Its development was part of something called the Copenhagen Green Wheel program, and it’s a fairly simple vehicle.

Called the Copenhagen Wheel, the bicycle is equipped with an energy storage device fitted into the rear wheel, which saves the excess energy of peddling and braking operations. It’s also fitted with sensors that monitor air quality, traffic volume, travel times, even energy expended, so it can act like a personal fitness trainer.

A smart-phone device can be attached between the handlebars for communication with the bicycle.
A YouTube video explains the concept.
