The Barrett Marketing Group has signed a deal to distribute Husqvarna motorcycles in Canada.

The deal was announced at the Toronto Motorcycle Show, but the specifics of models and prices may not be released until the Calgary show, which opens Jan. 8.

Husqvarna Motorcycles of Varese, Italy, said in a press release that it chose BMG "to help expand its presence in Canada and provide improved service to its customers." It says the deal is effective right now.

"We are very pleased to make this announcement and we are looking forward to working closely with Barrett Marketing to grow our dealer network across Canada and provide better access to existing Husqvarna owners and to those who are interested in the brand," said Massimiliano Mucchietto, Husqvarna’s director of sales and marketing.

"I am thrilled to be able to offer another exciting motorcycle brand to the Canadian market," said Josh Barrett, BMG’s business development manager. "Husqvarna has an incredible history and we look forward to helping build on the momentum that the brand has gained in recent years."

Husqvarna manufactures a range of bikes for enduro, motocross, supermoto, dual purpose, and cross-country use. BMG has been out of the motorcycle distribution business lately, but in the past has distributed a number of brands in Canada, including Aprilia. They are headquartered in New Brunswick, but have branches across the country and currently distribute a range of recreation-type products including Honda engines and six-wheeled amphibious ATVs.

  1. “We are very pleased to make this announcement and we are looking forward to working closely with Barrett Marketing to grow our dealer network across Canada” Until Husky/BMW decide that BMG has grown the market enough to warrant them taking the brand in-house via BMW or have the US Husky distributor take over. Barrett has been down this road before with Triumph, KTM and Husaberg. There must be some money in it for them to go at it again.
