A press release by Canadian Don Hatton’s Team Destination Dakar says the rider’s 690 KTM is "built and loaded on the ship in France heading for Argentina," his entry fee is paid, and "medical shots are all done" in preparation for the 2010 Dakar Rally, which starts Jan. 1 in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Hatton is associated with Duncan Motorsports on Vancouver Island, B.C. His team mechanic Bernie Wright prepped the bike there.

Hatton first tried to run the Dakar in 2008, but that race was cancelled due to fears of terrorist activity. Last year the race was held in Argentina, and Hatton was injured when he crashed early in the competition. He recently finished in fourth place in the 2009 NPO Shamrock Rally in Morocco.

A send-off party will be held at the Duncan shop on Dec. 23.
