Hans Trunkenpolz, son of KTM’s founder — who was also named Hans Trunkenpolz (the "T" in KTM) — died on August 30 after suffering a heart attack while running a marathon in Altötting, Bavaria.

The 65-year-old was a former off-road racer and had taken on a management position at KTM before retiring in December 2008.

He led the company to eight Dakar victories as race team manager.
