A cross-Canada journey with a military motorcycle in tow and a computer full of historical memories has faltered because a thief took advantage of an open window.
London, Ontario, resident Randy Young set out last year to preserve the memories of Canada’s veterans. He created a nonprofit organization, Friends of Veterans Canada, got it registered, and started collecting videos of veterans telling their stories.
But in Regina on the weekend, he left a passenger window open in his travelling van, and when he wasn’t looking, somone reached in and stole his laptop computer, a camera, and a valise, with about 17 lengthy interviews of veterans.
Young says he doesn’t care about the gear, but he wants the video camera’s memory card back.
Young is towing a military motorcycle behind the van and stopping at Harley-Davidson dealers across Canada. He’ll be in Saskatoon on September 5, then will head to Edmonton and Red Deer, Alberta.

One can only hope that the effing crackhead who stole the equipment will fence it to someone who has a conscience and will return it all intact.
