Definitely … on road

Polaris Industries will improve its focus on motorcycle products by creating an On-Road Vehicle Division, the company says.

Victory Motorcycles, the company’s well-established motorcycle brand, will form a cornerstone of the new division, says Polaris CEO Scott Wine.

"Polaris is committed to growing its on-road vehicle business through continued growth in the motorcycle industry along with successfully introducing products into other on-road adjacencies in the future," the company says in a press release. Aside from whatever "on-road adjacencies" means, there is speculation that Polaris might be preparing us for the introduction of other kinds of motorcycles than the heavyweight cruisers that Victory is known for.

Along with the notice of this new division, Polaris has appointed Mark Blackwell, who has spent eight years running Victory Motorcycles, as vice president of motorcycles; Mike Jonikas, who is vice president of sales and corporate marketing, becomes vice president of the On-Road Vehicle Division; and Steve Menneto, who has been a region sales manager and director of dealer development, is now general manager of Victory Motorcycles.

Judy Kulsrud replaces Menneto as director of North American sales.
