The boss of MV Agusta has been accused of spying on Ducati and Italian police have searched his house and taken his laptop computer.

Enrico D’Onofrio was chief financial officer for Ducati before taking a new job with MV Agusta. He was appointed CEO on May 1.

It’s reported by the website corriere.it that the Guardia de Finanza, Italy’s financial cops, have searched D’Onofrio’s home and office.

His lawyer says D’Onofrio simply performed a backup of financial data at Ducati before leaving the company, and has not used the information for the benefit of his new employer.

MV Agusta was purchased by Harley-Davidson less than a year ago.

Ducati has not commented on the matter.
