BMW will brings its S1000RR supersport motorcycle to Canada in the fall.
The bike is currently racing in World Superbike. The street version was revealed on the weekend at the Monza WSB double-header event, where Ruben Xaus brought the superbike home in seventh and 11th places.
BMW says the 999 cc water-cooled, 16-valve inline four-cylinder motor is "brand-new from the ground up" and "bred for racing." It makes 193 hp at 13,000 rpm, and develops 82.5 lb-ft of torque at 9,750 rpm.
Weight is 183 kg (403 lb) dry and 204 kg (450 lb) wet (plus 2.5 kg with optional race ABS), and BMW says the bike "sets a new standard" with a power-to-weight ratio of 1.05 kg per horsepower (1.06 kg with race ABS).
A "dynamic chassis systems" component allows four modes of engine management, with Rain, Sport, Race, and Slick settings, plus optional ABS and Dynamic Traction Control with a "rear-wheel lift-off detector."
The S1000RR is available in three colour schemes: mineral silver metallic, thunder grey metallic, and acid green metallic.
The company says the new model will be "priced very competitively in the supersport motorcycle category."
Love it. Some people on other sites are complaining about the style but it appeals to me. The headlights look cool.
