Italians lead the way, again

Buy this, get cash?

Can they do anything wrong? First they gave us Valentino, and then they gave us the 916. Now Italy is giving cash to people who buy new bikes.

The deal is best for riders who acquire a new electric or hybrid moped or motorcycle, with hundreds of euros available to defray costs, though there is some kind of "simultaneous destruction" obligation involved and we understand that the incentive program is intended to get old bikes off the street, so you may be required to turn in your ancient Laverda chopper.

The Italian environment ministry has provided €8,750,000 to be given to be paid out this year in the program. There may be lesser incentives for buyers of regular gasoline motorcycles.

Here at CMG we love all things Italian, but we don’t read the language. Those who do might glean further details at www.ancma.it.

  1. Excellent program, sorry for not having a similar one here in Canada. Speaking about motorbikes, after a perfect Honda CBR125, I owned last year for 245 Km a new Vespa LX50 that gave me plenty of technical problems. After fixing it in warranty, I sold it and I will never buy Italian again.javascript:mxc_smilie(‘:upset’)
