Defending Canadian superbike and sportbike champion Jordan Szoke of Brantford, Ontario, showed he’s not resting on his laurels at the late-April test for the Parts Canada series at Jennings Motorsport Park in north Florida.

Szoke set the fastest time on his Kawasaki ZX-10 and also broke the Jennings track record.

"I had the perfect lap until going into the esses I got wide, and if you don’t get it right to start with you screw it all up," Szoke said.

"I also think I could have been more aggressive through the last corner. The bike felt fantastic and I think if it had been 10 degrees cooler I could have gone faster."

The next-best superbike time came from Brett McCormick of Saskatoon, who was Szoke’s team-mate for the past two years but has jumped to the Team Suzuki / Blackfoot / Picotte Motorsports Suzuki GSX-R1000. Third went to Kevin Lacombe on the Team Toyota Yamaha OTSFF Yamaha YZF-R1, while fourth quickest was Alex Welsh, Szoke’s new Kawasaki team-mate.

McCormick set the fastest 600 time. It’s interesting to note that except for Szoke, all the riders in the test went faster on their 600s than on their superbikes.

The Parts Canada series opens at Calabogie Motorsports Park near Ottawa May 24.

  1. the Suzuki and Yamaha superbikes are new models, whereas the 600’s are the same as last year. Hence going faster on the 600’s first session of the year.
