The Mad Bastard Scooter Rally is less than 2 months away. Here’s an update of where we’re at.
As June the 12th approaches fast, here’s a quick update of where we’re at with the 2009 Mad Bastard Scooter Rally.
Pre-registration was very successful and on April 16th we opened up the standard registration to everyone. Currently we have 60 spots confirmed with another 7 booked (but waiting payment to confirm). That means there’s still 8 spots up for grabs until we reach our capacity of 75.
If you have a scoot and want to be be a part of mad history, then register now as all remaining spots are on a first come, first served basis.
THE MBSR 09 CHARITY
We’ve opened up the pledges for the Kids Help Phone and the registered Mad Bastards have so raised a very impressive $2,370.00 (that’s 47% of our goal of $5,000), with John Seesink leading the charge at $915.00 raised! To win the MBSR you need to accumulate the most “Mad Points”, and there are points awarded for how much charity money you raise, so you could say John’s currently winning the Rally … though there’s plenty still to come.
If you want to sponsor one of the Mad Bastards or just make a general donation to the cause (in that case you can always sponsor Editor ‘arris) then, click here to go to the MBSR charity page.
The Kids Help Phone’s mission is to improve the well-being of Canadian children and youth by providing them with anonymous and confidential professional counseling, referrals and information.
Matt Tesluk and Darlene Ing are riding the Mad Bastard as a team but instead of riding two bikes, they’re both going to do the 800+ kms of the rally two-up on a BWs 50! Team name? 2 up 2 crazy.
We’re also going to have an all girls team (Team DirtyGirls on Hondas) in the Straight Jacket class (under 50cc). Andrea Goodman (an MBSR veteran) will be joined by Aliki Karayan and Barb Piatkowski and will be riding a mix of Ruckus 50s and Jazz 50s, thanks to a sponsorship by Honda Canada.
Oldest bike? 1963 Honda C100 to be ridden by Ben Yu Schott. Best team name to date? The Knights of the Wandering Sausage …
